Vegas Solo Excursion #2: Dec 2011

I originally had a 8 day stay at IP for $200 bucks. However, I decided to purposely chase comps at $40 a day slots and $100 table buy-ins.

Clearly, that was bad strategy considering what matters is the hours on the slots and tables mean little to cet...among other failures.

Oh well, I had fun, as always.

Coming near the end of my trip (like 5 days in), I decided to move over to Hooters because I could not afford to chase comps anymore at $40 a day.

And by the way, $40 a day did not work. Ha. But again I was experimenting...within my means...as a lowly grad student.

But really I could not afford to stay at IP longer not because of my slot play but because I randomly met a guy at a casino who claimed to make thousands off $400 buy-ins being a professional craps player himself.

He used to high roll like crazy with $10,000 buy ins on the low end. But realized he could make a significant amount of money with lower buy-ins.

I know what you are thinking....SCAM!

But naive I am not. He seemed legit with his story.

He noted that he does lose some times but that he also makes a pretty good living this way.

He suggested that he plays to keep his bankroll steady until a hot roll, at which point he steadily increases his bets until the money he wins from the casino is spread out over each number.

His strategy, though more complex than previously stated (and I understand it but just don't feel like going into too much detail at the moment...inquire later), seemed very viable.

So, I gave him and watched him play my $400 buy-in....into the ground over 3 different tables!

I mean, it's OK if you lose at one table, but 2 more tables? And that just shows me that all craps systems only work if the table currently preferences it.

SO, I will stick to my $20 buy-ins on $5 min tables, betting the field ONLY when I see the table is HOT for the field.

Simple. I learned my lesson.

We kept hitting cold tables apparently. Still, he kept the bankroll steady for several hours, as he suggested his system does, lasting 8 or 9 hours.

But fortunately the man's play got me some nice comps with bconnected. So, I did at least experience "high-rolling" (at least compared to my usually micro-rolling) on this trip.

Nuts. I know. But the guy seemed trustworthy. I even left him playing my chips to use the bathroom and come back.

I chuck it up to a Vegas experience. No regrets here.

A couple small wins at IP at $40 on a Four times diamond machine (name?) and a hit of $225 on a Wheel of Fortune $5 denom machine on ONE MAX BET SPIN at Caesars made me feel like maybe CET still liked me after all despite the lack of comps. I was happy.

I hit several wins on Hooters free slot promo play, even up to $50 free slot play win, which is like the 3rd highest win on the promo slots.

But I kept playing it through hoping for the big $1000 cash hit LOL. I went from $100 promo dollars to $2000 promo dollars before I lost it all with no wins.

I could have walked away with at least some free wings.

The next day, I did it again. On the same promo machine. No win.

Hooters had a deal for 2 free steak dinners and $10 free slot play and because I had 2 reservations, I got 4 free steak dinners and $20 free slot play (for the winter offer)!

I drowned myself in steak, and I had only paid $60 for 3 nights!

The beds at Hooters were uber comfy, and tons of people find tropical bed sheets tacky...I LOVE THEM!

I also enjoyed their 24/7 pool, chillin at the jacuzzi, sitting directly under the sun.

Hooter has a pretty cool pool: hot beds, fire pits, waterfalls, 3 pools, jacuzzi, soft seats, lay bed (in the water), sand in some areas....sheesh!

Their $1 Wheel of Fortune slots next to the Owl Rewards booth were also paying me on several occasions!

But their $3 BJ was always killing players every time I came around.

To me, Hooters wings are disgusting. Maybe it was a bad day.

I kept stacking up on their Tollhouse cookie dough sandwich in their gift shop open from like 6a-11p. They always made me sleepy at night.

Tropicana also has this slot that gives me business all the time...I think it's 25cent double diamond! Put in $5 twice and got back $60 total.

Same happened last time I came in August.

I kept losing at MB and Ex....I used to call Mandalay Bay my husband and Ex my buddy...I think me and MB are estranged and Ex and I are taking a break...But I got REAL Luck with LUX!

I think my next trip will be to Monte Carlo. I already have Circus Circus lined up because it will be super expensive in March because of Spring Break!

But I like the budget luxury of MC. Nobody remembers poor ol' lux MC. Tis a shame. Ha.

To me, MC looks better than Bellagio on the inside...However, Bellagio's facade is clearly obliterating MC's.

Nevertheless, I explored Circus Circus and I look forward to rides, circus acts, midways, cheap gift shops, mcds, krispy kreme, and slots of fun. Also there's a 7eleven, ross, mcds, and dennys nearby it.

I even found a craps machine at slots of fun!

I found a ton of craps machines this past trip EVERYWHERE...MB, $3, Ex $2, Lux $2, NYNY, $2, MC, $3, MGM, $5, Mirage, $5, TI, $1!!!, Slots of Fun, $2....

and unlike my trip in august, NONE of those machines were favoring the FIELD BETS!! And they all were sevening out quickly. Grrrrr. Lame.

I could have been making serious money off these machines if they were favoring field bets. Field is so low risk when the table is hot for the field LOL.

I never ended up going to a spa or a club. I figured the Hooters pool made up for the spa.

It was too cold i felt to venture out at night for a club.

I look forward to the warm weather to REALLY explore.

I realize I like Planet Hollywood and Aria....they really dazzle my senses.

I got to watch O, Mystere, and Michael Jackson. None of then were a fail but they all put me to sleep.

O was really beautiful too.

The beginning of MJ was too slow but it certainly picked up in the middle and kept my attention.

Another thing that fails is playing downtown. I always lose downtown.

Except when I played at Vegas Club (which happens to be a nice property in my opinion).

I used their $5 free slot play and hit for $40 on a 90cent spin on a penny slot!

I also went to my first Fremont Street Experience.

Certainly poor timing.

It was cold, uncomfortable, and no one was out there. The big TV? Can it!

Perhaps I shall come back on a warm busy night.

I still never forget my beautiful fried treats at Mermaid! Delish!

I learned some new things this trip too.

Tropicana Cinemas on Trop ave (taking 201 bus) with $1.50 movies is AMAZING!!! What a way to spend a day.

I watched In Time and Paranormal Activity 3--excellent movies.

And their $4 nachos? Tasty!

I also happened to watch New Years Eve at Palms Brenden Theater. Lammmmmeee.

I see why that all-star cast could not save that movie.

I have never walked out of a movie I paid for...but I had to...I could not take it anymore.

At least Palms slots still pay lots. And they had $7.99 lunch buffet with unlimited bbq ribs!!!

I went over to Gold Coast and hit a craps table with $100 buy-in, going big and placing $25 on 6, 8, and 5, played for 2 hours..walking out with $265. Nice.

Even though I went to vegas during Christmas season, I did not really feel any Christmasy vibe so strongly except in the awful Christmas rendition of Legends in Concert.

I'm hoping my spring break trip has a spring break vibe.

I look forward to pool season!
